Hill Race

A fast, fun and furious 3 mile race from the Games arena, around the track, then along the A82, up (and down) Achmony Hill and back to the Games arena.

Entry is carried out in the Secretary’s tent on the day, last entries will be 2.30pm.

Numbers will be provided for the Hill Race at the time of entry (safety pins provided).

Did you know you can enter a team in the Hill Race?

  • Teams must consist of 3 people (male / female / or mixed)
  • Teams can be entered from any one of the local geographic areas, but everyone must come from that area
  • No substitutions of team members on the day – participants can continue as solo participants
  • The winning team will be the team with the fastest combined time for that event
  • There is no limit on the number of teams from any one geographic area
  • A competitor who is part of a team can also win an individual entry
  • Only one member of the team can be a member of an athletics/cycling club


  • Mackenzie Challenge Cup, presented by Ex Baillie T MacKenzie for annual competition in the Hill Race
  • Nora Mackay Memorial Challenge Cup – first local in the Hill Race
  • Margaret C Fraser Memorial Challenge Cup – first local juvenile (over 16 and under 19) in the Hill Race
