All piping competitions (both junior and senior) will be held on the all weather pitch, adjacent to Blairbeg Park.

Senior Piping Events

Registration for all Senior events closes at 10.30am

Start for all Senior events 11am

Cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places; there is also a prize for 4th place in Piobaireachd.

  1. March – £40 / £30 / £20
  2. Strathspey & Reel – £40 / £30 / £20
  3. Jig – £20 / £15 / £10
  4. Piobaireachd – £80 / £60 / £40 / £20

 

Junior Piping Events

Registration for all Junior events (excluding chanter and Under 13 piping) closes at 10.30am

Start for all Junior events (excluding chanter and Under 13 piping) 11am

Registration for Chanter and Under 13 piping closes at 1.30pm

Start for Chanter and Under 13 piping 2pm

Cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd places (£10 / £8 / £5) for all Junior Piping events including Under 13 Piping.

Medals and cash prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd & 3rd places (£8 / £5 / £3) for all Junior Chanter events.

The Major’s Cups will be awarded to the best local piper and the runner-up.

(Local: Anyone who was born or resident (for more than 1 year) in the geographic areas of Abertaff, Glenmoriston, Glenurquhart, Kiltarlity, Kilmorak, Abriachan, Strathglass and Kirkhill.)

Entry Fee

Competitors should note that admission will be charged, enabling them to compete in each and every event. There are NO individual event entry fees payable. Admission will be payable at the main gates.

All competing pipers should register at the Games Secretary tent beforehand.

Complete the Piping Entry Form and submit to the Solo Piping Convenor.

Conditions of entry

  1. All entries must be accompanied by the appropriate fee.
  2. Closing time for all entries on the field is 10.30am (seniors & juniors) & 1.30pm (Chanter & Under 13 piping).
  3. All pipers must register at the Secretary’s Tent and collect a RED PIPING TICKET.
  4. Start time for all entries on the field is 11am (seniors & juniors) & 2pm (Chanter & Under 13 piping).
  5. Under 13 Piping and chanter competitions will start at 2pm to allow entrants to participate in the local Games competitions.
  6. Prior to the draw being made, the Solo Piping Convenor’s decision is final and following the draw, the judges’ decision is final.
  7. For the purpose of the Local Competition, the term “LOCAL” refers to anyone who was born or resident (for more than 1 year) in the geographic areas of Abertaff, Glenmoriston, Glenurquhart, Kiltarlity, Kilmorak, Abriachan, Strathglass and Kirkhill.
  8. Appropriate highland dress must be worn by all competitors.
  9. No competitor can enter more than one age category.
